For the last race of our season, Tri-County was the perfect track to bring out 20 vintage cars on a clear Halloween day. So to enhanse the quality of racing, the cars were split into dual 25 lap Vintage races, Feature A was for the Modified V8's with feature B including Stock V8 and inline 6 powered cars. Several members of the SGP vintage club came in to put on a show and try to run down the Betts powered ratrod Chevy II of Bob Hapeman.
Hate that the Cougar of Dennis Hinkle did't make the feature. Newcomer Tony Ross had a little spin and wall contact that resulted in a bent front fender and bumper but finished. Reid Harris was getting use to his new Camaro No. 3, check that out. Robert Lewis had trouble cranking his Fairlane in practice so he got it fixed and had to start in the rear. In feature B, Steve Irvin driving the $ Chevelle for owner Charles "Hutch" Webb had contact with Owen Leviner at the start , with a spin and had to run back up thru the field. One aid that got the $ car to second was that with a few to go Jeff Amaral slowed, fell from contention when his belt fell off but still finished 3rd. Check out both races in our video page.

Ten Vintage cars showed up for a cool night at Anderson. The 25 lap feature ran green to checkers. The best battle was for the lead with the top three cars of Eddie Gilbert, newcomer Nick Thunder, and Bob Hapeman running bumper to bumper. Faithful Inline 6 racer Howard Scruggs had to trailer home after practice due to water pushing out the head gasket. V8 driver Jerry Bryant found an oil leak from a timing cover just before the feature and did not start.
Robert Lewis had sparks flying from under his Fairlane 500 at the start and retired early. With the stands quite filled while social distancing, overlook parking filled and pits full of cars and trucks Anderson under the cool moonlight was the place to be to get your racing fix.

14 vintage cars made it to the start of the feature with another 4 cars in the pits that had trouble during the practice session. Modified drivers, Eddie Gilbert and Greg Porter run side by side for the lead. With Gilbert in the Mustang leading from lap one, stalked by Porter's Chevelle until turn 2 of the last lap made for an exciting race. Only one caution came out at lap 13 when Jerry Bryant in the #49 Chevelle spun high in turn 3 with Duffie Sams also spinning to avoid the close competiors. No apparent damage was suffered by the two. Porter's nice Chevelle (in the winner's circle) had rear bumper and quarter panel damage from the last lap pass with Gilbert.
