Congratulations to Jesse Martin on his V8 win at Tri-County Motor Speedway on Shriners 100 night. There was a big crowd all the way around the track, with 90 race cars on site. Carolina Vintage Racers had 10 cars ready for practice and 2 cars had trouble, so 8 started the 25 lap feature. The Cannon brothers brought their newly acquired cars up from Anderson. SC to give TCMS a try. Local driver and shop teacher, Dee McCall brought his Falcon out to battle with Martin for the checkers. One caution at lap 8 was shown after Hank Massaro in his '57 Belair lost an engine and oiled down the turn 3 banking. After an intense stay-dry cleanup and haul of Hank's #83 back to his pits, racing resumed to the Checker flag with Martin leading McCall. A little farther back Duffie Sams held off Doug Howell by 1/2 car length at the checkers for 3rd and 4th. Raymond Cannon had to hit the pits early due to overheating during the caution and red flag. Carlton Sharpe held on to 5th in his consistent #68 Mustang. No Inline 6 class was awarded this night due to Ed Ritchey's '56 Ford having brake cylinder leaking issues and Howard Scruggs missing his first race in at least 5+ years. If you missed this race, we will be back at Tri-County Motor Speedway June 6th.
